During your trip to Albania and the capital city of Tirana, you’ll embark on an exciting tour of the city before heading out to explore the ancient city of Lezha (visiting the castles and Mausoleaum of Skanderbeg), and to Durres – a once-vital mediterranean metropolis. Full Itinerary

Tirana

Day 1

After landing in Tirana, go on an introductory tour of the city. Tirana is the capital city of Albania and the largest in the country. It features various destinations to explore, such as the National History Museum, National Gallery of Arts, and traditional artwork on display on a Cold War-era bunker. During your city tour, you’ll marvel at the monometallic buildings, many of which were erected following the fall of the Hoxha regime – who converted the country into a one-party communist state during the mid-20th century. From there, explore other culturally significant sites, including the Atham Bay Mosque, Pyramid House, Skanderbeg National Hero Square, and the Opera Building, to name a few. After the tour, proceed to your hotel and check in. Stay for three nights at The Crown Boutique & SPA Hotel 4*.

Lezha - Shkodër - Tirana

Day 2

Enjoy a delicious breakfast in your hotel. Then make your way to Lezha city. With over 2,200 years of recorded history, Lezha was once a prominent centre for the Illyrian kingdom, who ruled the Western part of the Balkin Peninsula from 400 BC to 160 BC. Although not many structures from that era remain, Lezha Castle is one of the few that do, a 322-metre-tall structure that has been rebuilt twice during its long history: once by the Venetians in the 1440s, and then again by the Ottomans in 1522. While visiting Lezha, you’ll not only explore the castle but also the Mausoleum of Skanderbeg, a tomb dedicated to the great Albanian hero, George Castriot Skanderbeg, who helmed a strong resistance against the Ottoman army for 25 years. Following this, enjoy lunch in Mrizi I Zanave and proceed to Shkodër. From this incredible city and landscape, you can view the Albanian Alps to the north. Then go on a tour of the city, visiting the Centrum, Cathedrals, Mosques, and the Old Bazaar. From there, explore the Castle of Rozafa and the nearby museum. Then go sightseeing, marveling at the faraway mountains, Shkodër Lake, and the nearby rivers. Return to Tirana in the late afternoon or evening.

Kruje - Dürres - Tirana

Day 3

After a hotel breakfast, proceed to Kruje. This town is close to Tirana, and it offers incredible panoramic views of the mountains and various historically significant sites, including Kruje Castle, Skanderbeg Museum, and the Old Bazaar. Afterwards, head to the port city of Dürres, which contains traces of architecture from Hellenic, Roman, and Illyrian cultures. With a 3,500-year-old history, Dürres was occupied by the Ottomans from the 15th century until 1912, when Albania proclaimed independence. Go on a tour of the city, exploring the Roman amphitheater (which, despite being destroyed twice by earthquakes, is still standing and could once seat 20,000 people), a nearby archeological museum, the castle city wall, and the Byzantine bazaar. Return to Tirana and enjoy your last stay at your hotel.

Day 4

In the morning, check out of your hotel. Proceed to Tirana airport for your flight. Your journey ends here.
